What is the Foundation Events?

There is an opportunity to study Buddha’s teachings in more detail on the Foundation Events. This study Eventsme is designed to help us deepen our practical understanding, through teachings, meditation, discussion, and memorisation. Also available by correspondence. We have two classes running at the Centre on Sundays and Wednesdays. If you are interested in joining either class, please contact us for more details.

What are we studying on Sundays?
4pm - 9.30pm with a break for supper.

In this clear and detailed commentary to the Essence of Wisdom or Heart Sutra, one of the most popular Mahayana Buddhist texts, the author skilfully explains the dream-like nature of all things, the relationship between our mind and our world, and the extent to which we create our own reality.  

Through studying, contemplating and meditating on this Sutra we can gain a perfect understanding of the nature of reality, overcome hindrances and difficulties in our daily life and finally overcome the obstacles preventing our attaining the perfect happiness of enlightenment.

What are we studying on Wednesdays?
7.00pm - 9.30pm each Wednesday

We all have the potential for self-transformation, and a limitless capacity for the growth of good qualities, but to fulfil this potential we need to know what to do along every stage of our spiritual journey.

With this book, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso offers us step-by-step guidance on the meditation practices that will lead us to lasting inner peace and happiness.
